AEW
And when one hears Cody Rhodes say those words
- "we use the word REVOLUTION 'cause this is a
REVOLUTION!" -
it reverberates throughout time and history;
the history of wrestling, full of such bold statements.
But this is where and when it truly rings true;
more so than it ever did before...
It should have been the NWA Four Horsemen
changing things like this - but it was not quite it,
was it? Instead of Ric Flair, Tully Blanchard
and the Andersons, it's Kenny Omega, Cody Rhodes
and the Young Bucks having such a huge... IMPACT.
Huge, humongous impact on this industry:
the likes of which even ECW never was capable of.
Lately, ROH and Lucha Underground have tried, too...
TNA used to want to have this sort of "pull"
but the fans are now seeing it differently -
it is not meant to be them.
It is meant to be... this AEW REVOLUTION indeed!
A true revolution, without a doubt:
light years above what Shane Douglas could achieve
with his old ECW pals or the gang he formed
with two defecting Horsemen, the late great Eddie Guerrero
and Perry Saturn, in the latter days of WCW -
that was barely a true "revolution"
- it was more like mere dissension in the ranks
and its very leader wound up staying on
with the new regime, afterwards...!
CODY RHODES... did not do that.
He did depart - and led the way
to this "industry facelift" and "paradigm shift"
as Jon Moxley so deftly described... just before this:
Hmm... Already playing hardball, eh?
Those four guys:
CODY RHODES... KENNY OMEGA...
THE YOUNG BUCKS...
They truly are at the forefront of a true
REVOLUTION here:
it was not to be Ric Flair's Horsemen...
sure as hell not the nWo...
not Paul E. Dangerously's Alliance or ECW...
not any faction led by Shane Douglas...
NEVER going to be the Hart Foundation...
not Ring Of Honor - Jay Lethal or not...
not Wrestle Circus...
not Lucha Underground...
and definitely not TNA IMPACT.
(DX...?
It doesn't even deserve a mention!!)

is it!

Victoria
She saw it all - and beat them all. Although she also "put over" the likes of scrawny'n'bitchy Trish Stratus, fitness models who had no real business wrestling in the first place (that would describe former WCW pretty face Torrie Wilson to a... well, T, assuredly!) and other Michelle-McCool-type-of-chicks who prove to be nothing more than FADS, more often than not, especially AFTER some of them have posed nude for Playboy; but I am digressing again!
One can only be crestfallen to learn that Victoria is retiring already. She was tougher than the late, great Sherri Martel, meaner than the late, great Nancy Elizabeth Toffoloni Daus (WCW's "Woman" of Horsemen fame) and a much greater in-ring performer than Sable aka Rena Mero aka Mrs. Brock Lesnar... Lisa Marie, as Victoria, had her place in wrestling much moreso than even an Elizabeth Ann Hulette ever did; because she COMPETED and is a natural athlete, not just a cheerleader of sorts. Amazingly, WCW passed an opportunity to hire her early on - while the same WCW hired "Miss Elizabeth" based upon her WWF/WWE tenure and notoriety, Wendy Barlow to portray Ric Flair's French maid "Fifi" and the execrable Debra based upon... the fact that she was married to a Horseman, really! Incredible...
Victoria, with cronie Steven Richards by her side, had a tremendously good run as Women's Champion - a run during which she proved without a shadow of a doubt that she was head and shoulders above the usual chosen champions (Stratus, Candice Michelle, Maria, Sable, Madusa Miceli aka "Alundra Blayze" - sheesh, Ashley Massaro, Lita, Chyna/Joanie Laurer, maybe even Miss Mona/Holly Molly, Mickie James, Wendi Richter and even, assuredly, the overrated Glamazon, Beth Phoenix...) and that newcomers had to rely on treachery to be able to compete with her - such as Brie Bella's swapping places with her identical twin sister Nikki in order to get by a singles match with the HBIC - the Black Widow - the Vicious Vixen herself... Victoria! No "glamazon" amalgamation/abomination can compare to THAT...!
(Side note of very funny proportions: when you google up "glamazon" you stand greater chances of finding this rather than this! *LOL*)
Whereas someone like Miss Hancock/Stacy Keibler (also a retired-too-early star) has great LEGS, Victoria/Lisa Marie Baron was and remains the female total package - from top to bottom, as amply evidenced by these shots right here:

Ric Flair

Ric Flair - the Nature Boy - is *the* consummate professional in the world of pro-wrestling! He led by example - and he was a heel most of his career! (... which is lingo for ''bad guy'' or ''villain'' in their business - woo!) 2005 and the man is still wrestling! 1975 - he was in a plane crash and was told by doctors he would NEVER wrestle again! Not only did he make liars out of them; he did so in record time, a mere six months after the plane crash (which had left two other passengers, also wrestlers, paralyzed - and the pilot dead.). Not only was Flair back in action within six months - he was winning championship gold too! Some time after that, Flair revealed he survived another brush with death - as lightning hit his umbrella but ricocheted towards another man standing three feet from him. That man died while Flair was unharmed! Flair could have been fried TWICE OVER - yet he thrives on! Flair is THE MAN - not the Hogans, Cenas or Rocks. Certainly not his many imitators (Triple H, Double J, Y2J, HBK... all ultimately no better than Buddy Landell if you ask me!). AND LEAST OF ALL the jealous oafish brutish numbskulls who want to bully their way to the position that belongs to Flair by right - past and present chumps who attempted this include Lex Luger, ''Sycho'' Sid Vicious, Macho Man Randy Savage... and the Hitman, Bret Hart. None have ever had the finesse, sportmanship, charisma, showmanship and ring generalship of a RIC FLAIR - legitimate in his role as leader of the Four Horsemen as he was also in the role of leader of WCW (against the hordes of the NWO) and the voice of old school tradition in pro-wrestling (as opposed to sports entertainment barker, Vince McMahon). Hart and his four-to-five member version of the Hart Foundation were paler than pale imitations of the Four Horsemen... Luger was pathetic whenever HE was leading the charge for WCW (or for AMERICA - against Yokozuna, in his lame run in the old WWF / WWE...) - and Sid was equally odd and simply not believable as a good guy when WCW used him in that way in the latter days of the NWO... Savage? Elizabeth SHOULD HAVE BEEN FLAIR'S FIRST BEFORE SHE WAS HIS... she would have never been Macho's... or Luger's... and she would still be alive! But that is a whole different territory there... FLAIR will win over Triple H at Taboo Tuesday AND Survivor Series - or the WWE will go bankrupt! Call it... a luminous hunch!
A TRIBUTE TO THE NATURE BOY...
and another...
and another...
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery...
(Just ask the edgy Mr. Copeland there... and his accomplice in this farce, indy wrestler Rob Eckos...)
And, from Flair's best moments... to his worst... (ALL part of the ACT!)
